January 15, 2010 Ocala FL - "Pet
project" by Jacqui Janetzko - KaeLeigh Grace Ausley, 7, bags pet food at
South Ocala Animal Clinic on Tuesday. KaeLeigh sold more than 500 bottle-cap
necklaces to benefit Pets of the Homeless. She recently donated $1,000 to
help the organization.

"How to help the pets of the homeless" I don't know about you, but
this image almost brings me to tears-I definitely feel deep sadness for
them. In parts of the city, I see homeless men with dogs.

I currently live in my car with my dog and what few belongings I own. I have
less than $75 to my name and I've been turned away from a ton of shelters
due to my dog not being a service dog. I'm 22 years old, recently seperated
from an abusive husband. I don't have any family I can stay with and I'm
currently just hanging out in a starbucks trying to figure something out. I
refuse to let go of my only family I have left, and therefor I remain
homeless. How is this okay? He's a behaved dog, doesn't pee inside or chew
things up. I'm stuck sleeping in my car in the cold weather because of
rules. Everyone keeps telling me theres a shelter for my dog. Maybe I'm
selfish but I would not be ok if it weren't for the fact I still have my
dog. I've lost ev erything else, I won't lose him.
